was Zeusís other son by another mother and Hagathis was very envious of
Palatin. Before Palatin was born Hagathis was Zeusís favorite child. Zeus
and Hagathis would do everything together. Hagathis wanted to kill Palatin
by stabbing out his eyes so nobody could see the bright stars in them.
night when Palatin was about 17 years old he was asleep in his room. Hagathis
couldnít bear the Ďtormentí he had been put through the past 17 years so
he took a butcher knife and went and stabbed Palatinís wonderful eyes out.
Palatin was trying to scream for help but Hagathis smothered him with a
pillow and held his arms down so he couldnít hit him. Nobody heard what
was going on. After Palatin passed out Hagathis left.
the morning Calithdra came in to wake Palatin up. She uncovered his blood
covered body and gently shook him. He sat up quickly. They decided that
if they told Zeus that Palatin couldnít see the stars in his eyes that
Zeus would make them leave his house and never return. Calithdra didnít
think Zeus loved her anymore. Even though she was wrong and Zeus really
did love her she told Palatin that he must go down to earth. He could not
stay with his mother and father any longer. He told her that it was Hagathis
who did this to him.
didnít want his father to know that he could no longer see the beauty in
his eyes so he made his mother tell Zeus that he had died from a massive
bolder falling off a cliff and landing on him. Zeus believed all of her
story. After Palatin lost his sight, from Hagathis stabbing his eyes out,
he went down to earth to turn everyone with blind eyes into a person who
were many blind people because there was a monster that burnt peopleís
eyes by breathing fire on them. He was very mean. The monster stood 8í5"
tall and was yellow with blue spots. He had razor sharp skin and a tail
that could knock a person 500 feet into the air.
killed the monster by tricking him. Since Palatin was already blind the
monster couldnít make him blind so he became friends with the monster.
The monster learned to trust Palatin. When the monster was sleeping one
night, Palatin got out of bed and took his knife and cut the monsterís
Palatin was down on earth he met a very sweet woman. He name was Kalifnia.
He couldnít see her but she was very beautiful. They immediately fell in
love with each other. They planned to get married and have children. She
didnít care that he was blind. She loved him anyway.
the goddess of ears, mouth, and eyes, started to notice that there werenít
very many blind people on earth so she brought the subject up with
Zeus and he started to notice the same thing. Zeus talked to Calithdra
and forced the truth out of her about Palatin. He could tell she had been
hiding something from him but he didnít know what it was. He was horribly
devastated. He stayed in his room for a long time. Because once you become
a mortal you canít switch back to becoming a god.
had made this rule but now he was going to break it because he wanted his
son back. Palatin was asleep and Zeus appeared in his dreams. He told Palatin
that he wanted him back and that if in his heart he wanted to come back
then he would but if his heart had turned cold he would not return back.
Palatin was very confused on what to do because he wanted to stay with
his Fiancée. He thought for a long time and finally realized that
once he was a god again he could still have a human child and have a human
wife. So he returned that night with his father. Everyone was happy,
Zeus especially. Palatin told Zeus of all the things he did for the mortals
like make all the blind be able to see and he told him about the woman
he wanted to marry. Zeus approved of her very much.
was Hagathisís mother. She thought that it wasnít fair what Hagathis did
to Palatin but she didnít think it was fair what Zeus did to Hagathis either
so she made a deal with Zeus. She told him that if he killed himself she
would give Palatin his vision back. Zeus made the agreement. He loved his
son so much that he would die for him just so Palatin could see again.
He killed himself and Palatin got his sight back. Palatinís beautiful eyes
returned with the shiny stars in them. Palatin took the throne. He made
a new rule. He declared that if you where a mortal but your parents are
gods and goddessí then you too can change from a god into a mortal and
a mortal into a god.
still hadnít made revenge upon Hagathis. He brought Hagathis into his court
and told him to hold out his hands. Then he took a spear and pierced both
hands. He then took a huge gold ring and joined both hands together so
that Hagathis can never use his hands again. This would be torture for
Hagathis since his profession was teaching sign language to deaf mortals.
missed his father very much so he pleaded with Hepalithia to let his father
come back to life. After 3 years of begging, she finally gave in. She raised
Zeus from his grave and repeated over and over:
back to life,
back to me,
back to life,
body began to turn and spin in the air. Red and gold lights flashed out
from him and he dropped to the ground. He laid there for about 35 seconds
then said, "Well is anyone going to help me up?" Palatin ran to him and
helped him up and hugged him. After the reuniting Palatin thanked
Hepalithia for her help and he gave her a bag of gold for her help.
Zeus continued to reign
and his partner was Palatin. Together they went through 5 wars. 6 other
gods tried to dethrone them and 8 deaths of relatives.
thought that what revenge Palatin put on Hagathis was harsh after all he
was Zeusís son. He took Hagathis and took the gold ring out of his hands.
He told Hepalithia that she should use the bag of gold to help
fix his hands. She listened to him. After everything was done Calithdra
came up to Zeus and he said, "Why would you ever doubt my love for you?"
and she said, "I donít know, I just did!" and he said not to ever do that
again. She obeyed him. For the rest of their lives she never doubted him
again. As for Kalifnia and Palatin, well Kalifnia missed him for
a long time and couldnít understand why he had left. Palatin still wanted
to marry her so he made her a goddess. She was the goddess of beauty. They
have 5 children together and lived happily ever after.
