1. Choose one of the following characters:
Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Banquo, Macduff, or the three witches.
2. Re-read all of the speeches of this
character (for Macbeth or L. Macbeth,
select the five-seven most important speeches.
3. Begin to form some opinions about
this character. Is s/he evil or good?
Brave or cowardly? Smart or stupid? Responsible or irresponsible? Does s/he change throughout the play? Why or why not? Why does s/he do the things s/he does?
4. Finally, construct a thesis based
on your opinions of this character. Your thesis
should be an arguable statement about this character and will set up your
character analysis. It should be complex enough to require research into the
character to prove. Have your thesis approved by your teacher.
5. You are going to design a project
which will prove this thesis. It may be an essay,
a speech, a dramatic interpretation, a visual (mural, chart, Powerpoint presentation,)
a song, an interpretive dance, anything! The only stipulations are these:
